| Description: | The Road Conditions Reporting System is an Intranet site that captures near real-time road conditions, closures, and traffic restrictions. Inputs are mostly done in the district offices from information received in the field. Different input methods are utilized including selecting locations from a map and/or inputting through an on-line form. Displays are in map and report form. The system also collects metrics including traffic back-up queuing, "time to reopen," etc. PennDOT uses the application to improve situational awareness. Additionally, the inputs feed the Pennsylvania 511 application and telephone service. | |

| Description: | To be more transparent about projects on the Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP), PennDOT implemented a TIP Visualization Tool based on Google Maps technology. The tool displays all roadway, bridge, and aviation TIP projects. By clicking on a project the user gets a pop-up providing high-level details about the project, a link to a detailed report, and, if applicable, a link to the location on VideoLog. | |
