Description: | NDDOT has recently implemented an ArcGIS Online-based data portal that serves as a publicly accessible and centralized "aggregator" of NDDOT's geospatial data and mapping applications. The site does not store any data but rather helps aggregate existing data that may be "housed" in disparate servers across the agency. NDDOT's Information Technology Unit (ITU) anticipates that the data being shared through ArcGIS Online will support more effective transportation planning, project development, and asset management. ITU also expects the site to assist the traveling public. For example, through a travel information map that is currently available on NDDOT's website, the public can identify real-time traffic conditions and make better decisions about when and how to travel.

The map viewer will also contain street-level video and an online motion picture of the highway that users can use to virtually 'drive' sections of the highway. |

Description: | Each year, the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) drives the entire state highway system and has amassed over six million images. These images are integrated with GIS data and made available to all NDDOT staff via an intranet application, the Pathway Image Log. Through the Pathway Image Log, any NDDOT staff that has a broadband connection can virtually “drive” any part of the state highway system, locate a point of interest, and view its associated features with a click of a button. The Pathway Image Log application was built as a foundation for NDDOT’s GIS-enabled enterprise Web portal.
