Description: The Comprehensive Environmental Data and Reporting (CEDAR) application is used to catalogue transportation and natural resource data for use in transportation geospatial applications. CEDAR, which the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) initiated in the fall of 2002, is a workflow application with a spatial component that provides project management capabilities, a mechanism to track project progress, and a way to improve internal, interagency, and consultant communication.

Description: The GIS Integrator is an enterprise spatial data warehouse that is the Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) major repository for viewing, reporting, documenting, and analyzing geospatial information. VDOT’s GIS Integrator also houses data from other state agencies, including the state Departments of Environmental Quality, Game and Inland Fisheries, and Conservation and Recreation for use in enterprise applications. Currently, the GIS Integrator contains over 150 data layers, which are reviewed and updated on a mutually agreeable schedule with source agencies, although sensitive information is redacted from publicly-available data sets.

Description: Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) Online Transportation Information Map (OTIM) provides the public with access to a variety of transportation related data layers. Data layers in the application include: roads, rest areas, six-year improvement program, traffic, VDOT districts and residencies, among others. Users can also view aerial photography while mapping airports, amtrak stations, the appalachian trail, bus stations, ferries, park and ride lots, the ports of viriginia, railways, VRE stations, Washington Metrorail, as well as weigh stations.
