On March 10, 2011, FHWA will present its 9th webcast in a quarterly series of webcasts highlighting applications of geospatial technologies in transportation.
The webcast speakers are Jason Wang, Senior Transportation Specialist at the Appalachian Regional Commission, and Sang Yoo, Research Associate at the Nick J. Rahall, II Appalachian Transportation Institute.
The webcast will focus on development of the Appalachian Development Highway System (ADHS) GIS. The ADHS GIS is an integrated, comprehensive, web-based mapping system. It includes data from 13 states in the Appalachian region and supports integrated usage by Federal, state, and local users. The fall issue of the FHWA GIS newsletter also featured information on the ADHS GIS.

GIS Practice of the Week
Georgia Department of Transportation's (GDOT) Transportation Explorer (TREX) web application
TREX is a web portal system that serves as both an internal GIS information clearinghouse (85 available layers) and an application that allows the public real-time access to GDOT maps, reports, plans, videologs, and images of the entire state (23 available layers). TREX received the 2005 Georgia Technology Conference Best of Georgia Award for Redefining Government and was runner-up for the URISA Exemplary Systems in Government Award.
